In reply to your Letter of the 20th inst.
I am directed by this Correspondence to inform you that by instructions of Her Majesty's Government, no residences at the Public expense are allowed to the Civil officers of the Colony and that
the privilege you enjoy of living in your present House is to be considered as equivalent to an increase of Salary.
